“Meet Roland Martin”
Roland S. Martin is a renowned journalist whose career spans interviews with U.S. presidents, top athletes, and entertainers, always maintaining a strong sense of purpose and dedication to the African American community. He is the host and managing editor of #RolandMartinUnfiltered, the first daily online show centered on news and analysis from an African American perspective, and serves as CEO of Black Star Network, an OTT platform featuring a range of news and information shows. Martin has authored three books, contributed to several others, and earned numerous accolades, including four NAACP Image Awards and recognition from Ebony Magazine, Jet Magazine, and The Root for his influence and journalistic excellence. His work has been honored with more than 30 awards, including Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists and induction into the Texas A&M Journalism Hall of Honor.
Throughout his extensive media career, Martin has held significant roles at CNN, TV One Network, and the Tom Joyner Morning Show, as well as leadership positions at historic Black newspapers and digital platforms. He is recognized as a digital media pioneer, launching the first Black news source podcasts and contributing to the growth of Black-owned media. Martin is a life member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and holds honorary degrees from several universities. He resides in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife, Rev. Jacquie Hood Martin, an accomplished author.
