Memphis Juneteenth is collaborating with the Later Skater to bring Skateboarding to the Medical District Park. The Later Skaters aim to support and grow the Memphis skateboarding community by offering free skateboard lessons to kids & adults throughout the Mid-South & surrounding areas. There will be a portable skate area created for the instructions and lesson.

Freedom Run/Walk is a gathering of community, business and individuals united in a 2.5 journey representing the 2.5 years from the signing of the the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862 , with an effective date of January 1, 1963 by President Abraham Lincoln until the freeing of the last slaves to gain their freedom via the General Order #3 on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas. Each participant will receive a t-shirt & finisher medal. Following the event there will be an awards ceremony and a virtual option is available online.
